What IDeal has to do with P2P?

Chris Skinner

OK Leo, for clarity I should have said B2B, B2C and P2P online payments is a lot more than just PayPal. Title changed for clarity.

Ahmad Al-Fakharany

Some countries (like the Middle Eastern) have no social networks of their own at all. More specifically, a country like Egypt does not have PayPal enabled at all.
Why do you think a large service like PayPal is not considering Egypt?

Antti Larvala

Chris, this is true! If you are living in the Scandinavia region- local bank based payment systems provided by regional banks tend to be number one payment method in internet. This is so hard to understand for non-Scandi merchants.

Or if you have started to use PayPal in one country and then move to another country, then you have register again to PayPal and add local credit card. In the time of SEPA this is funny. Does PayPal require US citizen who starts to use PayPal in California to re-register again when he moves to New York- NO.

Chris Skinner

@Ahmad

PayPal is available in 23 currencies today:

# U.S. Dollars
# Canadian Dollars
# Australian Dollars
# New Zealand Dollars
# Hong Kong Dollars
# Singapore Dollars
# Euros
# British Pounds
# Yen
# Swiss Francs
# Swedish Kroner
# Danish Kroner
# Polish Zloty
# Norwegian Kroner
# Hungarian Forints
# Czech Koruny
# Israeli Shekels
# Mexican Pesos
# Brazilian Real (only for Brazilian users)
# Malaysian Ringgits (only for Malaysian users)
# Philippine Pesos
# Taiwan New Dollars
# Thai Baht

and is adding more all the time. I'm sure Egypt will be included eventually, based upon their growth plans.

@Antti

Thanks. It is clear that we still have a long way to go with global cross-border easy currency movements.

Kuulolla.wordpress.com

Chris,

that is true, we have a long way before global cross border currency movements. But what is funny to me that my Finnish euro card is not accepted to be in Belgium. Currently I have my Belgian address but location is Finland, because my card was issued there. Does SEPA mean that I can buy financial services anywhere from Europe and still live other European country?

Same thing goes for Apple/ ITunes or most of US based companies.

Chris Skinner

Kuulolla

Intriguing. As Finland and Belgium are both within the Eurozone, you should not be having these issues. Does this show that SEPA has a long way to go too?

Chris

Direct Debit Payments

Moneybookers is a good option for online payments, especially if you are in a country that does not accept paypal. Or should I say a country not accepted by paypal.

Josh G

We simply agree that online payment is far more than paypal. If you are integrating online payment on your website, I would suggest you go through the services offered by http://www.telesigns.com/.
